Alexia Scott – “In the woods, we return to reason and faith.” Emerson – Nature -1836

Nature heals and the contemplation of nature makes us better. I choose my subjects by emotion. I paint to capture that emotion; the single moment that lifts my thoughts and inspires me to paint.

My purpose in landscape and nature painting is to share this visual moment. I begin with a place, I often do a “plein air” pastel, but I continually refine the impression of the landscape by color and form to enhance the visual language and create a sense of calm and wellbeing. This is my gift to the viewer.

MFA in Painting from GWU. Taught figure study at Georgetown University and Design at Marymount University. Member of the Torpedo Factory Artist Association and Middle Street Gallery, Sperryville, VA.
